Imperial LAAT: The Best Ship the Empire Never Used
The LAAT is one of the most versatile vehicles in Star Wars, yet the Empire barely used it. Why is that? In this video. I design a successor to the Republic LAAT, and detail some hypothetical lore to explain why this extremely practical ship was overlooked by the Galactic Empire.

Why Walkers Exist in Star Wars

Why should walking vehicles (or rolling vehicles for that matter) exist in the Star Wars world, which has robust hovering repulsorlift vehicles? I think George Lucas actually gave us the answer in the films. Brought to you by over 200 amazing supporters on Patreon! www.patreon.com/echenry

I find the simplest explanation to be that Ubese has sounds that are outside human hearing range; there's more variation here we aren't hearing because we don't hear higher or lower pitches. To put it another way: It sounds short and repetitive to us because our ears aren't receiving all the information. To a listener that can hear into the ultra- and infra- sonic, there's more info than we're getting. This happens in nature: Flowers have markings in ultraviolet that we can't see, but that guide bees to land there. Dogs famously hear into the ultrasonic, where we cannot. When a symbol has more range of variation, it takes fewer symbols to represent the same information. In most character-based languages, e.g. Chinese, it only takes one or two characters to write what would be an entire word in another language: One character takes the place of many letters. Similarly, in spoken Mandarin, a single syllable can be 5 different words, depending on what tone it's said in. If Ubese is happening in a tonal range outside of human hearing, how short could words be and convey entire sentences of meaning? We might be hearing nothing but the shadows of the words.

This reminds me of the lore for the Lothal TIEs and how their differences from film TIEs is chalked up to local factory variations that aren’t shared between them like the base model, kinda like how during WWII ford and willys both made jeeps, but they had minor differences in engineering

I know this video is 7 years old, but then I realize something that could be done. Obi-Wan learns this new warlord named Darth Vader has been hunting down Jedi, and may have betrayed and murdered Anakin Skywalker. Only to find in a shocking reveal Anakin is Vader. "Isn't that repeating The Empire Strikes Back (1980)?" Where there's the connection.

None of these ships are capable of leaving our galaxy to travel to another galaxy in one man's lifetime. Most of these ships (except the Voyager) stay in the Alpha quadrant with the exception of an anomaly (The care Taker) pushing the reluctant Voyager to the Delta Quadrant. Also the portal to the Gama Quadrant, home of the Dominion, near the planet Bajor allowed Federation ships to travel from the Alpha Quadrant to the Gama Quadrant.

I wonder if perhaps Vantiss's bonding with the X-Wing might also have succeeded where others failed because he already knew every inch of its technical capabilities, whereas the test pilots would have been operating from surface level technical briefings.

From an interview with John Wash, who did much of the fake CGI in the movie: "One of the fun things about STAR WARS was some of Lucas’ concepts for the film. For instance, he thought there should be absolutely no roman lettering in the film - as there was to be no reference to us or our world. He felt it was OK to show numbers, but we wanted some additional graphics. So we developed our own alien alphabet. We took a type face called Mirage ” which had a lot of interlocking units. We’d cut out little pieces of these letters and made a whole alien caligraphy with endless possibilities. It pops up on the Imperial wall screen and on the Imperial targeters also."

Can you make a F-35/Z-95 hybrid called the F-96 Silver knight. I got a bit of my own lore on this fighter. The F-96 a unique class of stealth starfighters made by Incom as a direct contender to the TIE Defender project boasted superior maneuverability to Incom's T-75 X-Wing utilizing the frame of the Clone Wars era Z-95 Headhunter the F-96 was a radical change in Starfighter design with its stealth coating it could stay undetected by enemy fighters its wings were swept backwards in order to give the F-96 better maneuverability in combat both in space and in atmosphere than the majority of already existing fighters. The F-96 was powered by two Mark 28 Hallcon turbo light engines pushing the craft at 2,800 Mega lights per hour in space and Mach 5 in Atmosphere. Armament wise the F-96 has two G27 laser cannon mounted in each wing and 20 missiles in an internal weapons rack. Like the X-Win the F-95 never entered service with the Empire instead it found its way to the Rebels 397th, 701st and 189th Fighter squadrons codenamed Rancor, Jolly roger and Eagle Squadrons respectfully together these three squadrons made up the 332nd Fighter Wing assigned to Rebel Home Fleet the 332nd grew a reputation amongst both Rebels and the Empire as an elite unit with the rebels calling them "the battling Snips" (a reference to the 332nd Company) and the Empire called them "The Silver Demons" a nod to the F-96's Silver paint scheme and the 332nd's ferocity in combat. The 332nd fought in every major battle from Varnis V to Hoth, Endor and Jakku
